Set up MFA

Follow these instructions if you are setting up Entra MFA for the first time. If you have already set up an authentication method and/or added a new one, please use Entra multi-factor authentication (MFA) instructions.

1. Open a browser and go to https://www.microsoft365.com/.

2. Enter your UM email and password.

3. Click Next on the “More information required” window, select Next.

4. If you are using the Microsoft Authenticator App, select Next on the Start by getting the app window. 

Note: If you intend to use a phone/SMS or a different authenticator app, select I want to set up a different method.   

5. On the Setup your account window, select Next

6.  On the Scan QR code window, follow the instructions on the screen.

  1. On mobile device/tablet, open the Microsoft Authenticator App
  2. Click on the + to add an Account
  3. Select Work or School account.
  4. Select Scan QR Code.

7. Test your authentication method.

Hello, I have a problem with setting up. After putting in my UM Emil and password, it directs me to Duo and not more information required.
Kindly advise on a way forward.

i already have an account apparently? Downloaded the app, signed in, but i cant reach the webpage because the link just takes me directly to my signed- in account.

When I sign in nothing redirects me to the "More Information Required" page, it's just business as usual because it takes me into my account. Why?
Do I need to do something else before signing in ?

It keeps automatically putting a lock on and when I try to take it off it asks for my "biometrics" password. What is this? I never made a password.

I'm having the same issue as Bret Kreitz and Brett N. report above. I will contact IST service desk for advice, but since this seems to be a common issue, it might be useful to edit the set up instructions to address it.

I got a new phone and my 2 digit code will not pop up on either phone. It shows that my umanitoba account is gone off my old phone and on my new phone but it is grey. No numbers pop up when I try to login. Then when I try to register there are 2 digit that pop up but neither phone is confirming them. How to I reset?
