The university has three Wi-Fi options for our campus community: uofm-secure, uofm-guest and eduroam.

UM students, staff and faculty should connect to uofm-secure while on campus.

Are you a student, staff, faculty or guest?

Select one of the following options:

uofm-secure

Use the uofm-secure Wi-Fi connection while you are on campus.

What is it? uofm-secure is UM’s wireless network that’s fast, encrypted, and available everywhere on both campuses and available to those with a UM email address. All you have to do is enter your UM email address and password the first time you connect. Your device will remember your connection the next time you are on campus.

Who should use it? This wireless network is available to all students, faculty, and staff.

To learn how to connect to uofm-secure on various devices, visit Wireless network - Setup and support.

Are you a student, staff or faculty member from another university visiting for research purposes?

eduroam

What is it? eduroam (education roaming) is a roaming wireless access service developed for the international research and education community. It provides students, faculty, and staff with fast, secure, and reliable access to wireless services at participating institutions in 70 countries worldwide – over 106 institutions across Canada and over 21,600 service locations globally.

Who should use it? Visiting students, faculty, and staff can access the Wi-Fi through eduroam by connecting with their credentials from their institution. Likewise, UM students, faculty, and staff can visit other institutions and connect to their eduroam Wi-Fi service using your UM email address and password.

To learn how to connect to eduroam, visit How to access eduroam.

uofm-guest

What is it? Visitors to the University of Manitoba may access the guest Wi-Fi on campus. “uofm-guest” is an open and unsecured network. User bandwidth is limited to 5Mbps and 60 minutes of access, and you are restricted to general web browsing and accessing UM online resources with this connection. This connection is not ideal for students, faculty and staff.

Congratulations, you are done!
